The Women in Business Student Group hosted a salary negotiating round table event earlier this month.
As a member of this student group I was so pleased with the large turnout! Both MBA, MSFA and MIM students came to hear one of our MIM professors, Melanie Billings-Yun talk about salary negotiating. Some of the topics covered were: Why you should negotiate and how to get over your anxiety. When, where and how to negotiate and how to research salary ranges.
This event was help on April 9th, National Equal Pay Dayin the USA, this was not planned but was a happy coincidence! April 9th signifies how far into the new year women have to work just to make what men did in the previous one. This event was a preview to Summer term when we take Melanie’s Negotiation class .
