Marketing in Asia and The Pacific Rim Class Reflection

 Marketing Folks have just finished Marketing in Asia and the Pacific Rim class. In this class, we studied about marketing strategies and practices as they specifically apply to Asia and the Pacific Rim. We did analyze marketing challenges and opportunities in this part of the world through class discussion, guest speakers, readings, case studies and lectures.

In this class, we have more understanding about the specific challenges, opportunities and strategies relevant to marketing in the Asia Pacific region. We also used key marketing concepts and strategies to develop solutions to complex business situations involving Asia Pacific consumers and companies. Moreover, we did practice and enhance oral and written communication skills along with teamwork and small group leadership skills. Thus, we were be able to develop a marketing plan that could be executed in an Asian market.

Most importantly, instructor Charles Patton was awesome. He always makes the class interesting and motivate student to participate. He always asks the questions which motivate students to share experience or idea. This helps us have more understanding in course material as well as be able to connect knowledge from class with the real business world.

Jaraswan Jarasjaruwan or Pear is a full-time MIM student. She got a Bachelor’s of Science from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. After she graduated, she worked as an educational consultant in Thailand for 2 years. Pear chose to study international business at Portland State University because she is interested in the business field and also the reputation of the university. Currently, Pear is studying Chinese as a third language. Also, she will choose Global Marketing as her specialization in the Master of International Management program.
