MIM Students, who chose specialize in Marketing, will have a chance to study Selling and Distribution Management with Bill Tung, the Vice President, Latin America/Asia Pacific of Columbia Sportswear Company. We all gain lot of knowledge from this class.
According to this class, we did a lot of presentations, papers, and discuss which help us to understand the diverse international selling strategies covering economic, cultural and social complexities facing today’s international sales executive. Moreover, we studied a selling function as it relates to diverse markets and business models.
For the paper assignment, we did a country analysis paper which helps us understand the business practice in those countries. We did research about the companies that run business in Asia and how they succeed in Asia region. What strategy they used to be successful.
The highlight of this class is personal selling paper. This paper is about ourselves, our SWOT, and the plan after graduate from MIM Program. This paper is very helpful because we have to write what we want to do after graduate, timeline, goals, and how to reach those goals. Also, the strengths and weakness, how we maintain the strengths and overcome those weaknesses to reach the goals. What the opportunities and threats, the strategies to reach the goal and so on. In addition, we have to present this plan to teacher and classmate. Everyone will give a feedback, suggestion as well as comments which are very helpful. We can sharpen written and oral communication skills and ability to sell one self from this assignment.
Most importantly, instructor Bill was awesome. He always makes the class interesting and motivate student to participate. He always asks the questions which motivate students to share experience or idea. This helps us have more understanding in course material as well as be able to connect knowledge from class with the real business world.
