A memorable trip in Asia: The second journey at the land of Kimchi, South Korea

First night in SEOUL with authentic Korean food

After we were done visiting companies and factories in Japan, All MIMers were ready to fly to Seoul, Korea. We will visit Hyundai factory and the DMZ which is the boundary of North Korea and South Korea. We arrived Korea at lately night. Our hotel located in Myeong Dong which is a shopping area. After I checked into the hotel, I went out to see night life with my Thai friend, Japanese friend, Chinese friend and American friend. We walked around to see night life in SEOUL and we had an authentic dinner at the local restaurant near by our hotel.

The first day in SEOUL: Today is a free day because it is Saturday. My friend and I woke up in the morning. We went to Coffee Prince, the famous coffee shop in Korea. We took many photos and ate many awesome desserts such as blueberry cheesecake, tiramisu cake, and black forest cake. After that, we went to the trick art museum. The trick art museum is the first museum in Korea to show optical illusion art. All exhibitions on walls and floors are rendered in three dimensions. There are 7 themes of exhibition: Parody Zone (showing famous paintings and sculptures), Animal Zone, Jurassic Zone, Aquarium Zone, Egypt Zone, Magic Zone, and Illusion Zone. In the evening, we had authentic Korea Manu called “Jim Tuk”. Jim Tuk is a spicy chicken fried with vermicelli. It was so yummy and tasty.

After that, we went to Hello Kitty coffee shop. Here is the heaven for Hello Kitty lover because everything in here is about Hello Kitty. We had a Hello Kitty cake and waffle which were so yummy and adorable. After that, we came back to our hotel and shopping around Myoeng Dong. There are many places for shopping in Korea; Myoeng Dong is the one of popular place for shopping. There are many cosmetic shops such as Etude, Skin Food, and so on. It is also has a lot of shops which sell clothes, bag, accessory, etc. We were really enjoyed shopping and we got much stuff for ourselves and our friends in the US.

All MIMers at the DMZ

The second day in SEOUL: All MIMers will go to visit Korea Demilitarized Zone called DMZ which is the area or boundary between North Korean and South Korea. We had a chance to visit the third tunnel which is the one that North Korea dug too deep until it hit South Korea’s water pipes. We went down to the tunnel and see the real tunnels which is the history of North Korea and South Korea. We also had a chance to see the boundary of North Korea and South Korea from the top of viewpoint. After we done visiting the DMZ, we all went back to hotel and took a rest. In the evening, I met my Korean friend and had an authentic Korean food with my Korean friend. After that, we walked around Kyung Bok Palace which was built as the home of the royal family in the late 1400’s, during the Joseon Dynasty.

The Third day in SEOUL: We went to Hyundai Factory which is the one of leading automobile company. We had an opportunity to visit Asan Plant which manufactures middle and large Sedan Model as a main product. I really like and impressed with their strategy and their advancement of technology because Hyundai manufacture their cars based on reliable high technologies to provide the best modern car which has the best quality and fulfill needs for next generation.

After we done visiting Hyundai Factory; Hyundai treat us a big meal of Korean BBQ which is yummy and awesome. In the evening, my friend and I went to Hongik area. We walked around there and took many photos. In Hongik area, there is a women university called Ewha University. The Ewha University is a nice place to study because there are plenty of trees and many traditional buildings. We also shopping around there and had a Korean Hot Pot as a dinner.

Time flies!! After we spent 3 days in SEOUL, We have to pack our luggage and say goodbye to SEOUL. However, the journey is not end. We ready to fly to the country which is the middle of center, China. We can’t wait to explore new experience in Beijing and Shanghai.

 

Jaraswan Jarasjaruwan or Pear is a full-time MIM student. She got a Bachelor’s of Science from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. After she graduated, she worked as an educational consultant in Thailand for 2 years. Pear chose to study international business at Portland State University because she is interested in the business field and also the reputation of the university. Currently, Pear is studying Chinese as a third language. Also, she will choose Finance as her specialization in the Master of International Management program.
